CREATIVITY BELONGS IN REAL LIFE

Right now, my art leads me more than I lead it.

It’s a conversation with myself I didn’t know I could have—one where something shows up on the canvas before I fully understand it. I’ll step back and ask, where did this come from? what does it mean to me? And sometimes the answer doesn’t arrive right away. It unfolds over days, weeks, even months.

There isn’t always a plan. And yet, the work still finds cohesion.

Because I’m the constant.

I show up with honesty. I follow what pulls at me. I let curiosity, emotion, and instinct take the lead—and somehow, my story reveals itself anyway.

That’s the practice.

And I believe it’s something everyone deserves to experience—creating not from pressure or perfection, but from a place that’s real, intuitive, and entirely their own.

SLAS: The Creative Rebellion Shows Up

J.J. Riggs joins 100+ artists at the Salt Lake Art Show

The Creative Rebellion is heading to the Salt Lake Art Show, May 14th – 17th at the Mountain America Expo Center.

This inaugural show is a major new fine art fair, bringing together national and international galleries, collectors, and over 100 artists across disciplines—from painting and sculpture to design, furniture, and beyond.

J.J. Riggs will be exhibiting and selling original work as part of this large-scale celebration of creativity, community, and artistic expression. This is your chance to experience her work in a space that brings together some of the most exciting artists working today.

Come explore, connect, and step into a weekend where art takes over.

We don’t just teach art—we create space for people to remember they’re creative.

Every week, The Creative Rebellion shows up in unexpected places across the city, bringing hands-on, human, a little-bit-messy creativity back into real life. These classes are built for everyone—from “I haven’t made anything in years” to “I live for this.”

You’ll find us popping up at places like Workshop SLC, Hills Kitchen, Proper Brewing, and 2 Row Brewing—turning everyday spaces into creative playgrounds.

And when things get a little darker (in the best way), the Dark and Moody Stitch Witch steps in—teaching goth cross stitch, abstract sewing, and textile work for those who like their creativity a little more unfiltered.
